The Hunt Ventures Automotive Portfolio
While Hunt Ventures is synonymous with the Northwest Arkansas skyline, the group’s influence extends far into the regional retail automotive market. This venture into the automotive world was marked by a historic collaboration between some of the most prominent names in American business. Through JH Auto Holdings LLC, Johnelle Hunt partnered with RML Automotive—co-founded by Thomas "Mack" McLarty and Robert "Beck" Johnson—and Jerry Jones’ Blue & Silver Ventures to form a powerhouse investment group that reshaped the local dealership landscape.
In February 2018, this partnership executed one of the largest automotive transactions in Arkansas history, acquiring several high-volume dealerships from the Everett Automotive Group. The acquisition included three massive flagship locations: Chevrolet in Springdale, Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat in Springdale, and Buick GMC in Bentonville. This move was more than just a retail investment; it was a strategic real estate play. By placing high-revenue, high-traffic businesses on prime acreage along the I-49 corridor, Hunt Ventures ensured that these vital commercial hubs remained at the center of the region’s economic growth.
In March 2026, the local automotive landscape entered a new chapter as the investment group transitioned these legacy holdings to the Lewis Automotive Group. This sale marks a significant milestone, allowing Hunt Ventures to pivot its focus toward its next generation of transformative real estate projects, including the multi-acre "mini-city" development known as Pinnacle Village and the cutting-edge office complexes of The Visionaries. The legacy of their involvement remains a key part of the region’s commercial history, demonstrating the family's uncanny ability to identify and elevate the industries that drive NWA forward.

The Hunt Ventures Quarry Portfolio
Johnelle Hunt and J.B. Hunt have a long history with quarries. Through strategic partnerships and early-vision acquisitions, Hunt Ventures helped transform the local landscape—literally from the ground up. The foundation of this division began with the establishment of Northwest Arkansas Quarries (NWAQ), founded by Johnelle Hunt and Tim Graham. Recognizing the critical need for locally sourced materials to fuel the region’s explosive growth, NWAQ quickly became a major player in the crushed stone and aggregate market.
In a 2013 landmark move for the regional construction industry, Hunt Ventures (via Northwest Arkansas Quarries) partnered with the Nashville-based Rogers Group Inc.—the largest privately owned aggregate producer in the United States. This partnership merged NWAQ’s Springdale quarry with Rogers Group’s existing facilities in Lowell and Farmington. The result was a powerhouse entity that provided the essential limestone and gravel used in the majority of the roads, foundations, and commercial developments across Benton and Washington Counties. Shortly after the merger in October 2013, the company expanded further by acquiring a 57-acre rock quarry in Fayetteville for $850,000, solidifying Hunt-Rogers Materials as the primary supplier for the region’s development needs.
.
Today, while Hunt Ventures is widely recognized for its "skyline" achievements—its roots remain firmly planted in the earth as the materials sourced from the Hunt-Rogers quarries served as the literal bedrock for the Class A office spaces and retail centers that define Rogers and Fayetteville today.
